haha! that’s my favorite line in that movie….I think it was just meant to be an absurd thing for him to say during a newscast.
My dad says he doesn’t want to watch the movie because he says they make fun of God, but when i watched it I didn’t find anything offensive that would portray otherwise. Please let me know how you viewed this movie.
It definitely is not an accurate portrayal of God, but how can you not laugh when Steve Carrell is making all of those sounds whilst Jim Carrey is controlling him? Awesome.
Here’s the main problem with it: the message of the movie, ultimately, is that ‘being God is hard’. It’s basically like, look Jim Carrey, you did a MUCH worse job than I did of being God, see how hard it is? I’m still doing a pretty darn good job of being God when you think of how hard it is!
This is about as unbiblical as one could get. The real reason that people don’t get everything they want is not because God *can’t* do that. God is not frantically trying to pull everything together and only partially succeeding. People get what they *need* and the Lord has the universe structured exactly as it needs to be. I would assume that this is what your dad finds objectionable, and I don’t blame him.
Still, I liked the movie, myself. It definitely asked some big questions (even if the answers turned out wonky) and, again, have you SEEN the Steve Carrell scene? That is brilliant, my friend! 
I remember there was this certain part in the movie were they were trying to adopt more dogs and then a dog found a dead body of some guy… and i was wondering who the guy was and why was he so important???

No one knows where he is and there are many rumors speculating, so they had Bruce, using his God power, put him there so he’d have a great story.
I have’nt see Bruce Almighty yet and I wondering if there any connections in the movie to first movie. Does anyone know if there is?

I was just curious if you guys thought of movies like Bruce Almighty or Evan Almighty as blasphemous or something.

i love this movie. its really funny.
…don’t you think it’s really kissing some fundie butt to say that if a person had the powers of God for a whole week that they would get nothing done and everything would fall apart? I mean if you had omnipotence for say …just an hour , don’t you think you would at least end oh… the whole starving children problem? Maybe air drop lots of food into their homeland? Something?
The whole movie kisses fundie butt. It winds up with the cop-out of ‘believe in miracles by _doing them yourself_.
It’s a few good jokes painted over the most insidious of personal-god dogma.
