I thought it was a very good movie, but the plot itself seemed to have little association with the river, except the ending. Why is it called that? is there something i’m missing?
mystic means mysterious. The 3 friends always hanged out around that river. A lot of “events” happen in that area. Just like when Sean Penn threw the gun into the river. All of the mysteries are inside that river. I agree that it was a good movie. Directed from one of my favorite hollywood person, Clint Eastwood.
Why would 354gr say that it has horrible acting. This movie won 2 Oscars for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Sean Penn) and Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Tim Robbins ). Their is no way this movie has “horrible” acting. Both actors gave powerful performance. As for a bad movie, it isn’t. It was even nominated for Best Picture. That wouldn’t make sense if it was nominated for being one of the best movies in 2003. This was an incredible film.
In addition to the mentioned awards, it also got Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Marcia Gay Harden) Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay (Brian Helgeland) and Best Director (Clint Eastwood).

It is depressing, but a very good drama. I would definitely recommend watching it sometime.

dead girl, dead guy, crime solved, but one gets away with murder but lives with the guilt forever…
They are two different types of movies, I know but ones similar to them.

I mean who killed the girl? And why did the deaf kid’s friend wana kill the brother? Just let me know who killed who and what did the ending mean? PLEASE
The boyfriend’s brother(deaf kid) and friend was involved in killing the girl. The deaf kid’s friend wanted to kill the brother because the boyfriend learned he and his brother were in on the murder of his girlfriend(it was a prank gone bad) and beat both of them down when he realized they were the ones responsible for the murder. The last part with Sean Penn and his wife was stupid to me and I think Kevin Bacon knew Sean killed their friend and was giving Sean the look before picking him up for murder.

It’s a story about the muder of sean penn’s daughter and the investigation.
Basically they live in this bad side of boston and when they were little something really bad happened to Tim Robbin’s character. Sean Penn and Tim Robbins still live there. Keven Bacon is now a police officer.
Can’t really say more about it but the movie is flipping awesome!!!

No, it wasn’t. The whole point of the movie is that he wasn’t the killer and his friend killed him thinking it was. Tim Robbins wasn’t the killer.
Let’s see, markum (penn) kills his buddy dave boyle (tim robbins), indirectly confesses to his cop buddy (kevin bacon) who lets him walk free, and then they all attend a happy parade together (along with the late boyle’s wife).
plus it turns out the dead girl’s real murderers were just a bunch of kids who killed her because she saw them playing with a gun??
That ending pissed me off so much! I was kind of getting into the story until Sean Penn killed Tim Robbins then it was over for me.
Just saw Mystic River, i don’t see how this was a 4 star movie! i think it won Oscars too! i thought it sucked.. i waisted 2 hours of my life. am i wrong? anyone think this movie was good?

That is an excellent movie, one of Clint’s best directing jobs. Many fine performances from so many great actors. Heartbreaking ending
Had to use the old line “my allergies were acting up” when I went to see it at the movies with my gf.
