The Thin Red Line Questions
Imdb lists him in the credits, but I never saw him in the film.
Yea Nick Stahl was the young boy. He was in the movie for a very short time and was shot and killed. I am a Nick Stahl fan and I hope hes in the next T4.
Did he play a minor role if he was in the film?
I don’t see his name on the dvd case or at hollywood.com, but it is on one of his fan pages (http://www.travolta.com/filmography_90.h…
Yes he was in it for all of about 5 minutes. He played a high ranking military officer on an aircraft carrier near the beginning of the movie. By the way, the movie was horrible.
Brought both and want to watch the better one first…so, which one do you think is better? It probably helps if you’ve seen both movies.
The Thin red line is more accessible but not neccesarily better.I hated the Fountain the first time I saw it because I thought it was too pretensious. But I watched it again the next day and understood it better & now think it one of the most amazing masterpieces in cinematic history. Its years ahead of its time.
Also the thin red line is 160 min long The Fountain only 90 min.So depends how much time you have.
The Thin Red Line was based off the memoirs of a soldier who actually lived through the brutality of war, while Saving Private Ryan was loosely based of a story about captive brothers. It seems like the Thin Red Line is the REAL war movie but the American people would somehow prefer to see fictionalized war movies where the soldiers are practically deified?
Why do American audiences prefer SPR over TTRL?
I agree with some of the other answerers in that The Thin Red Line is so horribly paced, it turns many off. That being said, I enjoyed the movie, thought Caviezel was very good. The attack on the pillbox hill was great, good action and put you right in the heat of the battle. However, Saving Private Ryan does that multiple times during the movie. The opening and closing sequences are the best battle scenes I’ve ever seen.
Me and my cousin love the war genre, and we are now looking to watch a war movie. So far I’ve found two movies:saving private Ryan and the thin red line, I’ve seen a few clips of each movie (not the whole thing) and we cant decide which one to watch. Which one would you recommend?
not even close Saving Private Ryan is the best war movie ever
Which is your favorite combat movie and why?
Saving Private Ryan is great for the opening sequence of 25 minutes non-stop suspense and most realistic depiction of D-Day.
Thin Red Line is an epic story of another WWII front (Pacific). Do not expect much in terms of action (on the contrary it is a slow paced movie), but the quiet and long sequences of the island is like a poem. It is aother masterpiece from Terrence Mellick.
Platoon is not the best Vietnam war movie. Check Apocalypse Now (Redux Version).
Blackhawk Down is about Somalia as far as I remember. If you want to watch a pure action movie, without much of a subtext, then this will be your choice.
I hate most of Action movies like Shawaznegger`s movies but I love, movies “shooter, Face off, Broken Arrow, Once apon a time in America, Godfellas, Alien, MI2, Gladiator, We own the night, Thin Red line.”
I hate movies like “shoot em up,
transformers
batman the dark knight
ironman
black hawk down
the god father
scarface
My personal favorite is The Thin Red Line.
I couldn’t tell you what the best is, but my favorite is probably Band of Brothers. I know that wasn’t exactly a movie, but whats not to love?
