War and Peace Questions
Money is the root of all evils and a blessing to the poor & needy.
The rolling of the Coin of Fortune down the distorted World will help the needies & shine on the dark hell of sufferng of unfortunate people, the sufferers.
Can comment on this COIN MISSION?
war and peace are opposites. money is not the root of all evil greed is. and greed does not always mean money. many Native Americans were killed for their land, not money. money is a blessing i guess but i am sure the poor and needy would also like food, clothing, and a place to stay that was safe over some paper. it is the things we buy with the money that they need not really the money. if you cannot spend it is is only good to keep you warm when you burn it or use it to stuff your clothes.
Well, I just got a best answer, so I figured I might as well “spend” the points… Would anyone please tell me the story/characters/plot/events/etcetera of War and Peace? The book, not the movie! (Was there a movie? I don’t know!) I’m not asking for homework help, it’s just that I’ve never read the book, but I’m writing a story and at least one of the characters have read War and Peace (or at least partially read it), so I really need to know what happens… Thank you so much and could you please answer tonight because I’m leaving on vacation tomorrow and will be gone all day…? Thanks!
well War and Peace is one of my favorite novels ever.
I’ll elaborate a bit… just gonna get a glass of water. brb
if you have not read it you should.
it is a historical novel and most of the plot revolves around families and their fate in times of napoleonic war in Russia.
It is a dense book filled with ambition, passion, drama, love, heroism and violence. A must read my friend, so even if you read the synopsis, don’t walk away from it.

Just watched “Rescue Dawn” which is a great movie! but it made me wonder what kind of conclusion came of Vietnam.
The US and Vietnam have been at peace since 1975.
Vietnam now has Favored Nation trading status with the US and travel between the two countries is open.
BTW, which war did his movie end?
Realistically, and honestly, the movie was not filled with inaccuracy’s
I know that Titanic isn’t the most expensive movie ever made, and neither is 1964’s Cleopatra. So, what is the most expensive movie? Is it 1968’s War and Peace? Or this past years Spiderman 3??
spiderman 3 which costs around 500M $ out of which most part of which was spent for post production.
I just saw it again (2nd time). And alot of things in the movie had alot to do with “Peace” first and of course the virus that was spread was consequence of the war, next he listened to Bob Marley and told his story about Bob going to a peace raley and getting shot. Then he said about injecting people with love & music. Do you agree?
The original version was in the 1950-1960 and was about vampires. It never stated where they came from and war or viruses were never mentioned.
The only thing that I can make from the updated version was just to modernize it and perhaps to make the suggest that we should not mess around with laws of nature that we do not understand.
My favorite are Saving Private Ryan and Forrest Gump
Could you tell me why it was your favorite.
Thank you for all your help and answers. PEACE!
does The Last Castle count?
if not, then it’s saving private ryan
This is my favorite quote from the movie/musical RENT. I had asked a question of what other peoples fav from the movie was and had a comment saying it’s not true, and one saying they didn’t understand the quote.
So this is why I think the quote is true and how I explain it.
War is destruction. What is the opposite of destruction? Creation. So there you have it. The opposite of war is creation.
Do you agree with the logic I have used to explain the quote?
Although I love different opinions, please don’t be rude in your response. Thanks.
I agree with you, but have something to add: the opposite of war is peace, but the meaning of the quote is that you need to go beyond the pure state of peace, and actually create.
It’s very similar, in fact parallel to another quote I often think of: Health is not just pure absence of disease: rather it’s a result of an active, vitally positive approach we adopt in order to enjoy life to the full.
We don’t say someone is healthy just because they’re not ill, and in much the same way we speak about society: peace is not only absence of war - it’s about creation and building our lives, too. War is of course the worst disease that no society is immune to, so the parallel is obvious.
I saw a movie that took place in “peace time” and they played a “war game,” using subs and flares as bombs. Does that still happen in war time (now), as a way to prepare for war?
It builds camraderie and it shows the strengths and weakness that the unit my need to work on and use to make the mission get accomplished.
Da DoN!
I’m not talking about movies aimed mainly at a kid audience where noisy kids are expected.i’m talking about people bringing infants that are under 1 years of age into the theatre along with them that aren’t coherent to watch a movie.one scenario:i was watching a star wars movie & sat towards the front rows.the movie began&this lady kept walking back&forth the aisles where i was at to comfort/feed/change her baby’s diaper or whatever.the baby looked like a newborn, maybe a few months old.the surround sound of the speakers probably startled the baby to cry.decibals damage their hearing?i couldn’t move to another empty seat because the other seats were full.i paid for my ticket hoping to enjoy my movie without much disruption.i don’t mind that people walk through the aisles to go to the restroom but this lady was a complete distraction.it didn’t seem like she was able to enjoy the movie nor did i:( if people can’t find a babysitter, stay home til you find one then go to the movie in peace??
Our movie theatre has a special matinee for women with babies.
At today’s prices, I don’t want crying babies and walking mothers to disrupt my evening out. Stay at home and watch videos until their old enough to behave.
Does he have any other movies or shows?
Steven Strait is his name and he is on the movie The Covenant. He’s a cutie
No, I don’t think so. Humans are constantly brainwashed for war and violence. Just look how “popular” are electronic games of violence and “action movies”. Yes, we “long” for peace. That’s understandible. But our society, especially this one of USA, loves “war”. What do you think?
Probably not. Especially if Americans have anything to do with it. We’re too selfish, spoiled, rude & ignorant, as a whole. Sure everyone WANTS peace, but how many ppl actually work TOWARD it? We’re so stuck on ourselves that we really don’t care about other ppl. If we ALL just cared a little more about how things would affect other ppl, or if we ALL didn’t HAVE to have everything we want, maybe there’d be more of a chance toward peace, but in my opinion… never gonna happen.
This may seem as non-sense. But sometimes when I watch those war movies, I feel that things make sense and they happen for a reason. People try to avoid death and when they are alive, they live.
On the other hand, in times of peace, there are lots of meaningless things; like people taking drugs, abusing eachother, mistreating their kids and acting like jerks.
I don’t know. This maybe all non-sense as I said before.
Yes. My whole life was altered and i praise GOD it was. I now have a real relationship with my wife and kids i never had before.
I watched it yesterday…It was a real shock…
Is it actually a philosophic debate about war and peace?
That movie is a big “sorry” for some real nasty Israelian killings during the Lebanon war.
It’s a good cartoon movie.

It’s close to 11 in the evening here, and I’m tired. A shower, a bit of, oh, maybe Beethoven, a swell glass of cool Canadian beer before I crawl into bed. I worked hard today: I’m studying lines–next Monday I audition in Chicago. It’s King Lear, and believe me, it is not for the faint of heart. Well, that’s this actor’s life–the theatre, movies, television. Mostly, I’m just a human being. And I’m concerned that the racism and anti-Semitism and radical fundamentalism here represent a lot of ruptured brains in my native country. Such hate, ignorance, bankrupt logic. We are so doggoned fortunate in the USA. Tens of hundreds of African children die every week from hunger or disease. This god to which many folks give praise needs to pay attention to those kids. Most of them are babies, little things, crying for food. I believe this god does not exist, but you folks say you have access, that your prayers are heard. Okay, put a fire under this god’s rump. Please, dear hearts, please.
Of course you already know the answer to your question. I like you better when you can the affectations and get down to things worth discussing.
You , when you’re not auditioning, make some thoughtful observations about a very serious problem, and I believe you may have caused some to think about taking a more active role in confronting it.
I’m an atheist,so I don’t have much to say about God or his holy rump; but I also hope we can finally take some action to relieve this suffering.
SANTREGA— Give the guy a break.—It would take the combined power and cooperation of most countries in the world to make a dent in this problem. Meanwhile it does little harm to ask Christians to lend their great influence to get others to act.
However, it might serve him better to stop calling them “dear hearts”
BTW—What have you been doing to help, besides sucking up to your god for extra brownie points?
Back in WWII, the traditional peace sign of two fingers was used to signify a “V” for victory. I just watched a few old WWII era movies and all the soldiers were giving that sign at the end of the war to signify victory.
There’s more than one peace sign in use today. The hand gesture, doves of peace, and the anti nuclear symbol.
A quote from the “source” link at the bottom, of which you might find the entire page on peace symbols interesting….
“THE HAND-GESTURE PEACE SIGN
is thought to have begun in Europe during world war II when a V for victory - and not to be confused with the catholic gesture of benediction - was painted on walls as a symbol of freedom from occupying forces. The sign was widely used by peace movements in the 1960s and 1970s as a symbol of victory for peace and truth.”
But just about everyone that I know realizes it was originally the “V” for Victory sign.
I thought you had to create peace in order to receive that. Why isn’t Joseph Kabilia leader of War Torn Congo getting it because he actually ended a brutal civil war. The president of Ivory Coast for doing the same. Not some guy who basically made a movie.
Any prestige that Prize USED to carry went out the window when they gave it to such luminaries as Nelson Mandela (communist), Yasser Arafat (terrorist), and Jimmy Carter (bumbling goofball)
EDIT: The only thing Nelson Mandela is “worthy” of is to be thrown back into a jail cell, where he belongs! He is a dirty, lousy communist:
I wanted to watch the original Star Wars movies (the ones releases in the 70’s and 80’s), maybe because I wanted to make a comparison between the newer versions….
So I wanted to know if anyone knows where can I get those for free….
Hope u can help me
