I here this is a good movie but when i watched it i was like, “wtf? this sucks” keep it mind i only watched like 30min of it . is there anything i should know about this movie to get into it more
i did the same thing. started it and was like wow, gay and stopped. then i finally sat down, watched it and it’ great.
I watch the film really often and I want to know if he really did the drugs or if he was just a really fine actor…And I really want to know why would you want to feel the way they did in the movie..Chaos was obviously the result of the way they handled the situations in the movie and they handled it that way cos of the drugs..Why then would you take it to such a level? I know he says…once you’re on a trip..the tendency is to push it as far as you can go…but still..their lives werea mess…Any insight?
That kind of drug experience is hard to fake, that tells me that he has probably done his share of drugs in the past. But I doubt he did them for the movie. Their behavior was hedonistic and nihilistic. Have fun because theres no reason not to. Its a very detached way of looking at things.
The writer is Hunter. s. thompson
Yes, it’s autobiographical. Written in the seventies I think. Thompson was a journalist, druggie and brilliantly funny writer. Sadly, he committed suicide last year. The movie doesn’t really do justice to the book (despite starring Johnny Depp!)
Is it good?
Hell yeah and yes its good. Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro are amazing. its one strange movie but is pretty good at telling the story of Hunter Thompsons crazy life.

That is my number one favorite movie, Johnny Depp portraying Hunter Thompson, it doesn’t get any better than that, too bad Johnny didn’t look so hot in that one, lol
I believe it is a masterpiece of the book by Hunter S. Thompson

Toward the end Johnny Depp is smoking something out of a lightbulb; what is that supposed to be? Was it like a makeshift crack pipe? Did they even have crack in the 1970’s? Don’t worry, I’m not going to try it at home, I’m just curious. Thanks.

I have seen the movie numerous times and read the book about three times. There are some differences in the movie but it stays pretty true to the book. So the question is which one do you prefer. Book or movie?
I once wrote a five page essay on the social statement that tacos verses hamburgers were saying in that book.
I would not have got that out of the movie.
