Was Prot really an alien from another planet or just an insane (but brilliant) person.
The movie sort of leaves it open. What did you make of it?
It left a lot of room for the viewer to make up his/her own mind, but in my opinion, I believe him. I believe that he is actually from another planet and that he uses our bodies as hosts. Maybe it is because I want to believe, or I think it makes for a better movie… either way I believe.
I do -great movie
well, there is a sequel to the book (it’s called on a beam of light).. but I think they left FAR too much out to properly make a sequel.. Unless you read the book, the ending was rather ambiguous.
1. why does the psychologist begin to doubt Prot suffers a mental disorder?
2. what is the message in the film about the distinction between reality and fiction?
it just proves that not everything is how it seems, and you have to have an open mind to see all of the possibilities
This is just for fun, we watched this movie in class and i just want to see what people think,
personally i don’t think he was an alien.
i believe that he believed it totally, and he was not insane. he was quite lucid although delusional.

Was he from another planet?
It’s left up to you. I personally believe that he goes back to K-Pax on a sunbeam, as mentioned earlier, although you could certainly assume that he simply disappeared.
Prot comes to realise through hypnosis that he is his “friend” that he’s been talking about, Robert Porter. There are theories that Prot, being from another plant, was able to mesh himself with Porter and take over his body to some extent. This would explain the memories that are brought up during hypnosis.
To be honest, I think you’ll just have to watch the movie and decide for yourself.
